As South Africa commemorates Women’s Day on 9 August, Freedom Park invites the public to honour the courage, resilience, and legacy of South African women in a space that embodies memory, reflection, and inspiration.
Freedom Park stands as a monument to the country’s journey toward freedom and democracy, and Women’s Day provides a moment to celebrate the pivotal role that women have played in that journey.
This Women’s Day, women can enjoy free entry to the Park and are encouraged to bring their families and friends to experience a day of history, culture, and connection. Visitors will have the opportunity to:
- Stroll through beautifully maintained indigenous gardens with panoramic views of Pretoria
- Walk the peaceful paths that wind through a landscape designed for reflection and remembrance
- Visit //hapo, our state-of-the-art museum that tells the comprehensive story of humanity from an African perspective
- Explore the Wall of Names, which honours the memory of thousands of South Africans who gave their lives for freedom
