Cuito Cuanavale Commemoration and Public Lecture at Freedom Park
Freedom Park will host a Commemoration and Public Lecture marking the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale
on 23 March 2026 at 10:00 AM.
Observed as the Day of Reflection on Resistance and Liberation Heritage, the programme honours
a significant moment in Southern Africa’s liberation history and provides a platform for reflection and
learning.
The event will include a wreath-laying ceremony, messages of support from partner countries, and
a public lecture exploring the enduring legacy of the battle.
Deputy Minister Peace Mabe of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture will deliver the keynote
address.
