In November we hosted an auspicious event when His Majesty visited Freedom Park for the Planting ceremony of the Bapedi Ancestral Flower at Freedom Park, honouring 16 Days of Activism against Women and Children.
The ancestral Flower will now be revered and be emblematic of this scourge that we are now confronted with: Gender Based Violence. He was passionate that the Ancestral Flower would symbolically address the need for reconciliation and nation building and seeking ways of bringing closure and launching those affected on a route of healing.
We were so honoured and humbled that His Majesty chose Freedom Park for the planting of the ancestral flower by the Bapedi Nation. His legacy would be one of reconciliation and nation building, it is here where the nation would learn to focus on that which unites us, instead of being blinded by that which separated us in the past.
On behalf of the CEO Ms Jane Mufamadi, Council, Management and Staff of Freedom Park, our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family.
