Freedom Park celebrates Heritage Day by offering visitors free entrance on 24 September 2023. This year, Heritage Month is geared towards “Celebrating our cultural diversity in a democratic South Africa.’
On this Heritage Day, we invite the public to walk between the walls and look at the rows of names. Each name represents a legacy, a history, a life story. Our South African heritage is a proud, poignant, and often painful one. But it is also one that speaks of triumph, perseverance and what we can accomplish as South Africans and Africans. The Wall of Names at Freedom Park is inscribed with the names of those who sacrificed and contributed to the freedom we enjoy today, not only during the Liberation Struggle, but also during some of the other major conflicts in South African history. Freedom Park’s stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description especially at twilight when the reeds light up the evening sky with its majestic splendour.
So come with your picnic baskets and enjoy the beauty of Freedom Park as you discover 52 hectares of pure magic!
