Freedom Park to Host Women’s Month Dialogue 2025
Theme: “Every Time a Woman Cries, a Vein Tears in Her Heart”
Pretoria – Freedom Park, the national heritage site and living monument, will host the
Women’s Month Dialogue 2025 on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, from 09h30 to 12h30. The
event will be held under the theme “Every Time a Woman Cries, a Vein Tears in Her Heart.”
This theme captures both the pain and resilience of African women, while affirming their
critical roles as knowledge bearers, spiritual leaders, and community builders.
The Dialogue will also be live-streamed via YouTube (@freedomparksa) to ensure that
women across the country and the continent can join the conversation.
Objectives of the Dialogue include:
• Providing a safe and respectful space for women to share experiences of resilience,
exclusion, and leadership.
• Examining the effectiveness of laws and policies designed to protect and empower
women.
• Reclaiming and reviving traditional roles and practices of women for future
generations.
• Promoting intergenerational storytelling and cultural pride.
The Dialogue will bring together women cultural practitioners, spiritual leaders, educators,
policymakers, artists, young women, elders, and community voices.

Anticipated outcomes include: policy briefs, educational materials for schools and
communities, archival of women’s testimonies and creative works, revival of cultural practices,
and strengthened networks of women leaders across South Africa and the continent.

The Dialogue is part of South Africa’s Women’s Month 2025 programme and resonates with
the global conversations on equality and inclusion, taking place under the country’s G20
Presidency.
